PALAZZO MISSORI
Renovation and Restoration for future retail and office spaces of Palazzo Missori, originally by Marcello Piacentini
The Palazzo Missori redevelopment project involves a historic building from 1938, designed by Marcello Piacentini, along with the surrounding area, located in the heart of Milan’s historic center, at the corner of Via Mazzini and Via Gonzaga, overlooking Piazza Missori.
The building, subject to the monumental constraints of the Superintendence for Historical and Cultural Heritage, is the focus of an intervention that engages with Piacentini’s architectural legacy, combining a philological restoration with a contemporary reinterpretation. The constraints emphasize two key principles that have guided the project: preserving historical memory and ensuring a reversible approach.
These objectives are reflected in the philological restoration of the external façades, respecting the building’s historical significance, and a well-defined contemporary architectural intervention. This includes work on the central courtyard, the internal façades facing it, and a new volume added to the top floor.
