CARGO CITY - MALPENSA 2000
Intermodal and Logistic Hub at the Milano Malpensa Airport
The new warehouses destined to Cargo Handlers operators at the Malpensa Airport, with their 20.000 square meters, will expand the Cargo City platform, strengthening the Lombard airport leadership in the southern Europe Cargo market. The buildings are intended for the handling and storage of incoming goods and intermodal shipping (air-truck), and constitute a significant step in the completion of the Cargo City plan, following the initial project from 1997. The designed complex consists of two “modules” of rectangular form, intended for two different operators of the sector. The construction started in May 2015. The assignment of TEKNE, following the tender, concerned the integral and coordinated design, architectural, structural and for building systems, fire engineering and safety coordination during design.
