ONGOING
AUTODROMO NAZIONALE MONZA - MONZA CIRCUIT
Renovation of the Iconic National F1 Circuit of Monza, for the hospitality, Management and Media Centers
Autodromo Nazionale Monza is renewing its hospitality, media and race management facilities through the refurbishment of three key buildings: Hospitality B2, Media Centre B0 and Race Control B3. The development creates a coherent architectural identity along the paddock frontage, introducing new functions and technology within the historic circuit.
The vertical extension of Building B2 introduces a new hospitality level with approximately 3,700 m² of flexible space and a continuous glazed façade overlooking the track. The roof combines glulam timber, steel and aluminium, incorporating natural daylight, solar shading, building services and photovoltaics. Long structural spans create open, continuous interiors, while limiting additional weight and aligning new load-bearing elements with the existing structure are key considerations in upgrading the building and constructing the extension.
Media Centre B0 is being reorganised across several levels to accommodate press rooms, commentary positions, offices, lounge areas and support facilities. The spatial layout, access control and upgraded escape routes address the operational needs of journalists and broadcasters during events. A new envelope of folded, perforated sheet metal provides solar shading and contributes to indoor comfort, requiring careful integration with the façades and building services.
Building B3 houses Race Control, with the new Control Room located on the ground floor, bringing together images, data and information from the track. Dedicated workstations and monitoring systems support operational coordination and race safety. Solar-control glazing, perforated metal cladding and tubular brise-soleil along the paddock elevation establish architectural continuity with the hospitality building.
The combination of refurbishment, extension and technological upgrades makes coordination between construction disciplines particularly important.
