The new IBSA Italy headquarters spans approximately 4,000 sqm and is conceived as an integrated ecosystem designed to enhance the well-being and productivity of its daily users. From the outset, the goal was to promote a healthier, more community-oriented and welcoming lifestyle—encouraging social interaction, good habits, and physical activity—through a space that aligns architectural quality with engineering performance.

A helical staircase, both functional and iconic, defines the atrium. It encourages stair use over elevators and scenically connects the floors. This vertical element is complemented by a custom-designed acoustic light fixture inspired by DNA fragments—symbolising both the uniqueness of the individual and the conceptual structure of the project. Together, these features create a powerful first impression and mark the building’s entrance, where visitors are welcomed.

All spaces are designed for maximum flexibility and adaptability. On the ground floor, the plenary hall and cafeteria are versatile zones intended for events, training sessions, and social gatherings. Movable partitions enable seamless reconfiguration: the plenary hall can fully extend into the reception area, while the cafeteria—featuring a ceiling-mounted acoustic installation—opens onto a large external plaza, creating a strong dialogue with the outdoor environment, which itself is designed to support well-being.

This outdoor area features open-air workstations and sport paths along the garden perimeter, enabled by the relocation of the parking area underground. It exemplifies the project's approach to sustainability and land use efficiency, minimising soil consumption while maximising functional green space.

Open-plan work areas are balanced by numerous meeting rooms and more secluded spaces that offer increased privacy and reduced sensory stimuli. On the first floor, medical demonstration rooms allow professionals to safely showcase and test IBSA’s healthcare products—highlighting the multifunctional and technical adaptability of the facility.

The project places great emphasis on environmental comfort, particularly in terms of acoustic, lighting, and climate performance. Custom solutions include sound-absorbing wall and ceiling finishes, and the distinctive operational task lights designed specifically for IBSA, which integrate acoustic baffles and adjustable light intensity based on natural daylight levels.

HVAC systems and all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) components have been designed with a focus on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and long-term sustainability. The building features advanced systems for climate control and air renewal, with zoned management to optimise consumption and maintain ideal comfort levels throughout the year. Ventilation systems are equipped with high-efficiency heat recovery, and temperature regulation is fully integrated into the building automation system, allowing for smart, data-driven management of energy and maintenance.

The sustainability strategy is embedded throughout the project, from the material selection (low-emission, recyclable, and certified for indoor health) to the integration of passive and active energy-saving systems. Natural lighting and ventilation are maximised where possible, and technical systems are harmonised with the architectural language without compromising performance or aesthetics.

The visual identity of the building is also reinforced through material and color choices: a palette dominated by shades of blue, in varying saturations, is paired with warm, neutral materials such as wood and white. This chromatic balance transforms the spaces into coherent, refined environments that express a dynamic, elegant, and professional corporate image—supported by the underlying precision of coordinated, integrated engineering.
