The project concerns the redevelopment, through conservative restoration, of a historic building complex located along Via Silvio  Pellico, next to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and near Piazza Duomo in Milan. Following a general strip-out and with the insertion of a new stairwell, the building is able to accommodate a new hotel, with 84 rooms and a reception-hall with breakfast room on the ground floor and mezzanine. Also on the ground floor, in the same property but next to the hotel, there is a restaurant, open to the public and also serving the hotel.
The mezzanine floor is intended for storage, while in the basement, in addition to the technical, storage and laundry rooms, the staff changing rooms and the existing garage, there is also space for a pertinent wellness area.
On the 6th floor and on the roof, the rooms and technical volumes for the systems and stair-lift bodies are completely renovated, without however changing the shape of the building and with the restoration of existing materials. The intervention involved demolition and almost complete reconstruction of internal partitions and closures, portions of stairs, screeds and substrates, lifts, systems, as well as structural consolidation and adaptation interventions and external works concerning the renovation and insulation of the roofing, the restoration of facade plasters and external doors and windows.
